When Barnes & Noble planned on launching their first ever product, a next generation e-book reader, they faced Goliath: Amazon Kindle. At the time, Kindle dominated the market, so everything was riding on a successful launch. Our role was to craft the brand identity, starting with its name. “nook” conveys a personal space, free from interruption. The resulting brand expressions and ad campaign stem from that one-of-a-kind feeling of reading a good book, something only a place like Barnes & Noble can authentically claim.
